Sunday With Scoop
We enjoyed a lovely lunch out today with Linda and her husband BJ. Linda has a yummy blog called One Scoop At A Time. If you are not yet a reader, you should be, but I must warn you: it will make you hungry
Together we visited Gordon Biersch Brewery for some burgers and salads, and then headed next door for the best frozen yogurt of all time.
I forgot my camera’s SD card, but luckily Linda and BJ snapped some photos and were kind enough to share them.
Linda and I both ordered the Seafood Cobb Salad…which looked something like this:
I ordered a lemon-olive vinaigrette on the side, which I thought was a very original salad dressing. I may try to re-create it at home. The salad was delicious but quite large, even for me! I took half of it home and had the rest at dinner tonight.
The boys ordered burgers…here is a shot of Matthew digging into his BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger (with delicious garlic fries).
After lunch we walked next door to Fraiche, a local, organic frozen yogurt joint. Linda raved about this place, and I was not disappointed. I ordered a soy frozen yogurt, which I thought was delicious because I love the taste of soy, and you could really taste it in this. Topped with strawberries and blueberries, it was the perfect lunch dessert!
Fraiche uses local milk and produce, all organically produced. Their frozen yogurts are made with REAL milk and yogurt, not powder like nearly all of the other popular frozen yogurt chains. Linda, thank you for educating me on these matters and for bringing Fraiche into my life! Frozen yogurt will never be the same again.

Gorgeous photo of you and Matthew! I love soy frozen yogurt/ice cream so much as well – your cup looks amazing!
Oh! I’ve never tried Soy FroYo- and that cup actually looks very reasonably sized. Right now all the self-serve fro yo places have these GINORMOUS cups- and they don’t offer smaller ones. They do this so that you’ll serve yourself large portions (and you pay by the ounce). I can see they roll their eyes when I go in there and have a tiny plop in the corner and it amounts to 5 ounces when the thing can easily hold 15 or even more than that.
Glad you had fun- nice to have a fellow bloggie so close to you.
Typical that the girls get the low cal salads and the boys stuff their face with burgers and fries. Life.Isn’t.Fair. And you can tell Matthew I said so
We love Fraiche! One of our family outings is taking the train up north and eating at Pizza My Heart, browsing Borders and ending the trip at Fraiche before hopping back on the train
I am so glad you discovered it! I am usually a plain or vanilla girl but I always get their chocolate because it’s not too sweet.
And Gordon Biersch … waaay too many stories from that place during my twenties LOL
Soy frozen yogurt! I am super jealous!!!
Sounds like a fun Sunday! I have never tried Fraiche, but now I will!
A few Thinspired Notes:
a) you are ridiculously photogenic.
b) are these awesome places in San Jose?
c) that Seafood Cobb looks like what I want for my last meal on earth.
d) here is a case in point in how we differ: “I took half of it home and had the rest at dinner tonight.” Um…I don’t think I’ve ever taken food HOME. Food is meant to be eaten (and OVER-eaten) at the restaurant. Right?! Kind of kidding.
Looks like a fun day!
Oh. my. god. Soy frozen yogurt? Gimme! Gimme!
They just opened a branch on Fillmore in SF! You’ve GOT to go! It is so worth it!
Garlic fries sound delicious! I wonder if I could make those…hmmm.
You and Matthew look adorable! Fraiche sounds amazing! I have yet to try the frozen yogurt trend but there is a new place in town that I am dying to try when it gets warmer!
Wow that salad looks awesome! So does the fro-yo of course
That frozen yogurt looks awesome. I always hear about fro-yo that’s homemade or organic, but I can’t find any around me. Guess I’ll have to settle for sugary TCBY when the craving hits. Or visit a hipper area.
Wait, wait. Soy frozen yogurt. Soy. Frozen yogurt. Gaaah! Must move to San Francisco! I haven’t been able to eat my beloved frozen yogurt in years! Hate my stomach. Hate Indiana -.-
The fro-yo look amazing. And I see they used biodegradable potato starch utensils. I love supporting sustainable business like that!
I’m a bit jealous of your GB visit. They have a grilled chicken and cashew salad that knocks my socks off!
I also now have a craving for some fro-yo (even in 20-degree temperatures)!
looks like fun! always like a good burger
mmm and that fro-yo sounds awesome, I’m addicted to that stuff. I like how that one is local, very cool
wish we had one here!
A seafood cobb salad is such a good idea! I like so many cobb salad ingredients, but bacon AND egg AND blue cheese AND avocado AND turkey in one bowl always just seems like way too much. I almost want to fly out to California just to try this. Then again, I could just make it at home….
Isn’t Fraiche delicious? I had heard great things and finally paid a visit a few months ago (of course I’ve definitely been back since!)
It was a pleasure meeting both of you yesterday. So glad to have a fellow blogger live close by. You must come over for homemade froyo. I will make a batch of soy froyo and a batch with regular organic yogurt. Like I said yesterday, Fraiche is addicting (in a good way)! And the only way to fix the problem, is to make your own.
That salad looks fantastic. And mmmmm, nothing like yogurt.
Love soy frozen yogurt, I like that it’s healthier and lighter than regular ice cream so I can have a little treat without all the fat.
