Review: Bora Bora Bars
Sadly I have never been to Bora Bora, but I am willing to taste anything that might give me the experience of a good fake-out. Pina coladas, perhaps, or some freshly cut pineapple? As it happens, Nicole of Bora Bora Organic Foods generously sent me a nice little package of tropical treats to sample and review for the blog.
The company makes three types of energy bars (Antioxidant, Energy, Superfood), in 10 different flavors, that are all organic, gluten-free, kosher, and free of preservatives, artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors. Some of the bars are also vegan. I was given seven flavors to try (I had eaten a few by the time this photograph was taken!).
And a cute shirt, which came in handy on Moving Day:
The first flavor I tried was the Exotic Coconut Almond (a “Superfood” flavor). At 210 calories, I used it to supplement a salad I had for lunch one day while I was on the run. Here are the stats on this flavor:
Taste-wise, I was so happy with this bar. It really did taste fresh. The coconut flavor was strong and made it easier to imagine that I was on an island, rather than stranded in my parent’s house
A couple days later I tried the Tropical Sesame Cranberry bar.
The first thing that came to mind was: peanut butter and jelly! This tasted a lot like a PBJ sandwich (even more than the PBJ bar by a company whose name I happen to share). If you like PBJ, you will like this bar!
Thank you, Bora Bora, for sending me this goodie package!

YUM I love coconut!! I don’t know about the other one though – I’m not a big Pb&j fan so there you go!
That is a cute shirt! Oh fun – looking forward to reading your interview!!
yumm the pb and j bar sounds great!
CUTE SHIRT!!!! THanks for the reviews and I have had the full array of these bad boys and they are so good. Enjoy em!
I love your new blog’s look BTW, your blogroll, your twitter stuff, everything, looks great!
If an energy bar tastes like PBJ sandwich, it’s not that bad at all! I am not sure if we have that here already but will check Bora Bora out.
The energy bars sound like a good find. However, I prefer to eat ‘real’ food instead of an energy bar or something like that but they are always nice when you are traveling or in a hurry.
Cute shirt!
Those bars look so refreshing and delicious! Will definitely have to keep an eye out for them here in NYC. Thanks for the review!
They sound yummy, but that coconut one has a /lot/ of saturated fat for a snack bar. I guess it can’t be helped, since that’s the way coconut naturally is.
I have a hard time with bars – I think I’m probably just picky. But I LOVE coconut so maybe I should give these a shot!
Oooo – those look good! They seem like the perfect snack preworkout (or post
)
Bora Bora anything, for sure! That coconut almond sounds like a dream vacation in your mouth! Love the interview, too. Your food philosophy is awesome!

Those sound delicious!
These bars sound delicious, although I don’t like that there are so many “sugar-like” ingredients. It’s nice that everything is natural though

Yum! I love trying new bars out – great for food on the go!
I’ve never heard of Bora Bora Bars…I’ll have to check them out! Thanks for the review!
I looooove those bars! I always get excited when Costco has them out to taste because they pretty much put half the bar out! Mmm!
We just got these at our Costco in bulk and in a variety pack. They are delicous! Great blog. I look forward to reading more!
Cheers,
