Sweet Saturday
Saturday was not only sweet, it was just Flat-Out fun.
Mama Thinspired knows how to stock the fridge for her baby girl. I made everyone breakfast burritos with scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, avocado, and salsa on top of Laughing-Cow-laden Flat-Outs.
Then we headed out to my cousin’s house for a family Christmas partaaay. My cousins just bought a lovely new home in the country, and we were all due for a gathering.
It’s a fantastic party house.
My “almost five-year old” nephew D was very into the ping-pong…
…until an adorable little neighbor friend stopped by, and then, for the first time, we lost him to a girl.
It was easy to get lost in watching them and not the mountains food.
Though I did had a couple of plates like this:
Except the second plate had a little French bread and some of Aunt Dee’s famous spinach dip. I only get that stuff once a year, so I don’t freak out too much about it.
After the food, it was family photo time. When I say they live out in the country, I mean the country. It’s absolutely beautiful!
Then we all sat inside and witnessed D and neighbor B fall in love. It had all the makings of a true romance:
Intrigue…
The Chase…
The Catch…
The Cuddle…
The Christmas Card.
It was the sweetest thing in the world to watch.
Desserts were almost as sweet.
I had a mini red velvet cupcake, which was the best “investment” I have made all year.
The sweetness didn’t last much longer—it soon became game time.
The boys had fun bowling on the Wii in the awesome “movie room:”
Guess who is sneaking a red velvet cupcake?!
Uncle Michael Robbie just watched. I had to snap a picture for The Hollywood Game!
More family fun…
It was late by the time we drove home, and Matthew and I were hungry for something that resembled dinner. We did something deliciously evil and went through In-N-Out drive through. It’s my guilty pleasure. No photo, I was too busy eating
I ordered a burger wrapped in lettuce, loaded up with ketchup on onions. Pure pleasure.
Was your Saturday sweet?

Looks like it was an incrdible day! So happy you enjoyed the time spent with your family.
What darling kiddos!!
I hear In-N-Out Burger is actually really healthy.. I think their meat is all natural and fresh! We don’t have one in New Mexico but I’m always hearing about how yummy it is!
What a great post, there is nothing better than good food and family this time of the year
And I loved your little joke at the beginning of the post, very clever!

Awww, I’m so happy you get to be with your family this Christmas Lara!!! It looks so wonderful. I’m a total country girl at heart, so that place sounds like perfection to me
I’ve never heard of In-and-Out burger, but it’s already better than any place around here if they have lettuce burgers!
My Saturday was sweet too – except I worked a busy day at Starbucks and came home covered in mocha syrup and whipped cream
I always eat the burger sans bun too! Extra ketchup lol. Love me some ketchup.
Your family fun photos are adorable! Love all the shots. As well as the beautiful countryside.
Wanna make me a breakfast burrito? Looks awesome! And you have a beautiful family! What fun
you have such a cute family! I wouldn’t be able to control myself around all that food…someday though. I think you made such a good dessert choice. must be nice to be home for the holidays =)
I LOVE Flatout wraps, and that burger wrapped in lettuce sounds super delicious!
Your family party looked like tons of fun. And I can’t wait to hear, 15 years down the road, about your nephew and his new found love’s engagement! haha.
My Saturday was pretty darn sweet, but not as sweet as yours, with all those desserts! We had ice cream for dessert after eating dinner out. It was, as always, deeeeelicious!
I’m glad to hear you had such an awesome time with the family! Hehe, your little nephew and his girlfriend are really adorable
The house is absolutely gorgeous, as is the countryside! I think my weekend would be sweeter if I had one of those red velvet cupcakes…
Looks like you had a great family weekend!!! : ) How fun!
(Laughing cow makes everything taste good ; )

What a great day! I love reading your posts as they shift to life in California! So interesting!!!

Your mountains of food look great!
Your posts make me smile so much- I am so happy for you, Lara
that house is awesome beyond words! Your nephew is too cute with his girlfriend…ah, kids. Sweet weekend indeed!
Looks like great family fun!!! You look so happy, Lara.
I spent some time with my family too, and writing the recap this morning made me happy.
It looks like you had a wonderful time together! Kids look adorable:)
OMG OMG OMG when did they invent LITE flatouts!! I used to buy the regular ones for trips and they traveled soooo well!! Must find the lite ones when I get home!
Oh the little cousin-love was nothing short of adorable-and the christmas card for 20 yrs into the future will be even more priceless! (for their wedding day!)
You look so slim girl- that photo of you in the field. You’re doing something very very right with your diet and exercise is all I can say. I’m just being honest.
Oh, you did the Atkins wrap at in-n-out. I’ve never been there, but I’m always willing to try something new
So glad you had a blast with your big family get together.
FINALLY (I’m really almost done)…I love the fact that you snapped Mr. Red Velvet just about to devour his acquisition- ha ha busted!!
work weekend on my end, but you look fabulous in all the family photos. your hair is so cute!
those kids are so so cute
Looks awesome and so much fun too. That is some beautiful scenery too! Great pics! Have a wonderful day!
Those breakfast wraps look great and I love the spread! Tons of great looking food. Anything that only comes around once a year (like that spinach dip) is definitely worth eating! No deprivation.
Aww, first love! I remember tackling a boy named David when I was little and repeatedly telling my mom that I would “marry David”. Who knew that years later I actually did “marry David!” (different one, though)
you must love being home!!!!!! funny, i had in n out this weekend, it’s my official “moving day” food
except i totally had the bun and fries!!! they were so worth it!
I love breakfast burritos and make them the same way, chock full of goodness! And In and Out Burger is amazing- so smart that they have the lettuce bun!
Wouldn’t that be so cute if they ended up getting married? You could say you took their first photo!
And you had me at that giant wheel of brie!! Holy moly. Hi, my name is Biz and I am addicted to cheese!
Sweet party house for sure, and the pictures of the kiddos made me smile. Ahh, young love. So cute. You know, I have never had In-N-Out Burger, but I think I would have ordered the exact same as you.
Awesome ranch. Where are the horses?
In case you’re interested…I’m hosting my first foodie giveaway with lots of cool kitchen stuff. Ends this week.
You’re so lucky you are near In n Out. We don’t have them in Chicago, so once or twice a year when I’m in CA, I get it. Usually after a day of wine tasting. Best fast food I’ve ever had. Its just not worth it to me to have a McDonalds burger when I can look forward to an In n Out animal style burger on my next trip out West!
That’s a gorgeous farm! Show me the horses! Lol.
This is probably going to sound dumb, but I had a flat out wrap the other day with scrambled egg whites and avocado, which I thought would taste weird but it was REALLY GOOD!! I’m glad to see it’s not totally abnormal because Chris was looking at me kind of weird.
The little ones are adorable….beautiful pictures!
