Keeping Up Appearances
Hi, it’s Mr Thinspired here again! Lara has been somewhat stressed out recently, as you Twitter followers have no doubt noticed. I wanted to write and let you all know that she is alive and kicking…
For those of you who don’t know, or are new to the blog, I’m an Englishman in California. We very recently emigrated from the UK back to Lara’s native USA and are currently setting up our new life.
While we’ve been looking for a place to live and getting things in order, Lara has been reminding herself to “Breathe. Just breathe” amidst claims of not eating healthy. Well, how could you call this unhealthy?
Let’s take a look through the camera and see what else we’ve Lara has been eating….
Oh wait, there’s one more….
In-N-Out is a treat for me, and something I cannot get in the UK, so I made Lara suffer with a lettuce wrapped burger, but man, they are good!
What else? Well, Lara inherited her Mom’s addictive personality, whereby she’ll get hooked on a food for a while. At the moment, the winner appears to be spaghetti squash. I have to admit, it’s not bad, but nothing beats the real thing!
We’ve eaten out a few times, it’s a good way to spend time with friends and family, here are some snapshots of me around town…
Amongst the seriousness of life, we’ve enjoyed many family gatherings, and Sunday was no different. It was nephew D’s 5th birthday, and a chance for some more photos!
After my half marathon, I set a goal of participating in a triathlon for 2010, however that is currently on hold, mainly due to my mother-in-law’s cooking – I’m developing a little pot-belly! Lara’s mother is a terrific baker, and treated me to my first Georgia Cookie. Seriously. Good. (Ask Lara for the recipe).
There was a little bit of mother-daughter bonding going on in the kitchen, while I napped. I was awaken by the wonderful aroma of freshly baked cookies and biscotti. Chocolate biscotti. Here’s part of my haul from the cookie stash!
Thank you for all of the well wishes at this hectic time. I’ll sign off with a festive photo of this little Nutcracker army!

What a sweet husband to do such a nice post!
Looks like you guys are having a great time, enjoy the holidays, and good luck on your triathalon in 2010!!
I love the guest post! Believe me, I would have to try an In-and-Out burger if I ever saw one, because there are none in my state! They seem so mysterious and tasty.
Miss Lara, please take some deep breaths. Life is good.
Ha! AMAZING GUEST POST!
Nice to meet you!
Your wifey has a great blog!
Happy Tuesday,

I love seeing a husband’s interpretation of his wife’s eats. So funny. I honestly doubt my hubby would be able to interpret *half* of my meals!
Stress less Lara and enjoy yourself, looks like you’re doing a great job!
Love the post Matt!
OMG YOU HUSBAND JUST DID A TWSS.
Did this really happen?? I LOVE IT. I want more husband guest posts in the future!!
I promise you, I am not usually a complete sap, but this post has me a little misty eyed. I just think it is so sweet to step in and post for Lara under the circumstances…and about HER food
You guys are such a fantastic couple and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
What a great hubby for posting.
Thanks for keeping us posted on what’s going on in Lara’s life, Mr. Thinspired! Great post!
Happy Holidays to the Thinspired family!
Hi Matthew! Thanks for keeping us updated. Please tell Lara not to stress out so much. Things ALWAYS work out at the end, no?
I love that you eat her stuff. It’s great. Go for that Tri…bestever!
Lovely post Matthew. Tell Lara to keep breathing. Her eats look perfectly healthy to me. I know you guys are stressing over housing, and I hope you find something soon.
Nice cookie stash. I think you and CD would get along splendidly.
Thanks HEAB! I will be sure keep Lara in check with her breathing
CD’s running times would intimidate me, but other than that, I think we would!
fun post matthew! do more
Hey old pal! Yes, Lara is alive and kicking. But WHAT exactly is she kicking
haha what a riot!
Yeah, I’m with you Matt- Lara’s eats look pretty darned healthy- even her fast food is wrapped in lettuce (which does remind me I must try that some day).
Cookie plate=nom nom nom.
Hi Debs! Lara’s kicking my butt, that’s what!
haha!
Hey! Hope you’re enjoying being back in the states. Please drink some rootbeer for me!
And this post was heeelarious! I love hearing what hubby has to say about all the healthy stuff you eat.
GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING! i love when the hubs steps in for the blogger – thanks for a fun post!
Thanks guys, for all the great comments of support!
I would just like to point out…it was actually a chicken sausage, and the burger had no cheese!
Hey Matt, Nice post…give Lara our love.
I loved graze with me’s comment above … that would make an interesting blog post one day. How about on the same day all the dutiful husbands / significant others, have a guest post & attempt to describe, in their language what they think their nutty better half’s are currently eating…
PS wanted to say good luck with the house hunt.
Cheers
Derek
Hahaha I love the “wait… more salad?” comments. It reminds me of my husband’s views and indeed: we gals tend to forget the good stuff and remember the “bad stuff”. Thanks for sharing Matthew!
And Lara, you’re probably just feeling frazzled and a little “omg everything is not under control”-ish. You’ll be fine, I promise!
Hahaha, wonderful post Matthew!!! You are much more knowledgeable/nice about Lara’s food than I think my other half may be. I think Chris can only identify cuts of steak
And that’s so exciting you’re planning on doing a triathlon!! I did my first sprint distance this past summer. It was a beast of a race, but still pretty neat to do
Good luck with the apartment hunting Lara!! Hope you’re at least getting tons of wonderful family time in!
Ohhh Matth is SO FUNNY! Seriously Lara, you are eating well. No matter how stressed you are. I so know the feeling,of feeling like crap from just a cookie or two. (And ahem, a cookie or two is WHAT the holidays are all about!) Don’t stress too much my dear, and as this post suggests to be true: there’s always a little hubby post action for your blog to get you through. And trust me, we love the guest posts! Even from the hub.
Great pics!
Haha I looooved this! I’d say you are definitely staying healthy Lara
And it’s the holidays–you are supposed to treat yourself! And I can totally relate to the Nutcracker addiction…my mom has more than 20 around the house.
Fun post,Matthew!Thank you for keeping me entertained:-) Everything will come together for you guys.Lara,I wish I ate that healthy when I’m stressed.hehe… cc
I’m laughing so hard that my coworkers are looking at me like I have 4 heads and green tentacles… Wow, Matthew! Best husband/guest post EVER!
Christmas love to you both!
Loved the guest post Matthew! And her eats look healthy to me – including the In N Out Lettuce burger!
Merry Christmas to you both!
I’ve been majorly slacking in the blog-reading department but I wanted to stop by and wish Lara a Merry Christmas. I’m so happy to see another Matthew post!! I used to watch “Keeping Up Appearances” with my family alllll the time. In fact, I think they still watch it. Daisy and Onslow are our favorites!
With that being said, I know you didn’t refer to them in this post but the title made me think of that.
Congratulations on your new move to the US! I’m so happy for you guys – I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
So cute and so sweet that your husband wrote this post for you
love it. and seems like you have nothing to be stressed about in terms of healthy eating! everything in moderation right?
great blog lara
