Oooh, I’ve seen those Dorset cereals here too. It looks really good, but is also $7 for a small box here, and I just can’t bring myself to pay that. Another reason why my city needs a Costco!

Have fun in London!!! Happy Mattakah!

  17. Happy Birthday, to the man with the enormous package! heh heh.

Mushed apple?? scuse me but I believe that in the past you’ve tried to fool us into believing that it’s APPLE PIE!! Next you’ll be telling me that there is no Santa Claus!

  18. It’s funny that you know another Jessie, I’ve only ever met one other female who spells her name that way. I’m actually named after my great-grandmother who was from England. She was a twin, Jessie and Bessie. Glad I got the name Jessie!

    Happy B-day week to Matthew!

  19. Abby says:

I love how you do birthday weeks too, as we stretch them out as long as possible (“We’re watching this show because it’s my birthday week,” and “I don’t want to do that because it’s my birthday week.” Etc.) Yes, I’m 28 and still use it as an excuse.

Anyway, fun gifts and fun cereal. I love seeing the different stuff you guys have over there.

  20. Melissa S. says:

    happy birthday matthew!!!

  21. Erin says:

He looks happy with his package! :-P I also L-O-V-E how the bottom of your cereal box says, ‘unadulterated breakfast pleasure!’

  22. LAF says:

Great gift Lara! Happy B-day to your hubby.

  23. Mama Pea says:

LOLOLOLOL!!!! I was dying at that first picture of Matthew because I totally thought of the Justin Timberlake D*#k in a Box skit, and then you go and talk about my hubby’s package! This post just made my morning!

  24. Ashley says:

Happy Birthday Matthew!! Have fun in London for the weekend!

  25. linda says:

    Happy Birthday Matt!

Will you still celebrate Thanksgiving in England next week? (I know it’s obviously not an English holiday).

  26. Lu says:

Happy Birthday to your hubby! I don’t think I could give up salmon either. We don’t get anything cool like those cereals at my Costco. Bummer.

  27. carolinebee says:

Awww love mini cereals!!! I remember the General Mills packs from childhood, I could NOT wait to bust open the Trix and LUcky charms! :D Have fun this weekend!

  28. Ahhhh happy birthday, Matthew! So exciting that you’re off to London for the weekend! Have a fabulous time – I’m so jealous! I am on the constant look-out for tickets home at the moment. Sigh.

Loved your vegan for the day thing by the way – I would find giving up yogurt super hard, but giving up cheese would KILL me!

  29. legalstyle says:

    excellent final line :)

  30. Hayley says:

Happy Birthday Matthew! He looks so pleased with himself – cute pictures!! I’m cracking up at your “packages” jokes and “I aim to please.” Heheheh…I couldn’t go vegan either because I really love Greek yogurt. :)

  31. Lauren says:

Get out! I was just thinking of getting my dad this exact kind of gift for Christmas. This bag is perfect!!! Did you say you found it on Amazon? Do you mind if I ask what the brand/model is? I love it! :)

Have a great night tonight. Birthday dins are so much fun.

  32. Anne K. says:

  35. julie says:

dude we both totally can NOT be vegan. never in my life could i give up little shrimpies and yogurt! no way nuh uh.

have fun in london!!! someee day i’ll get there :)

  36. You’re too funny Lara.

I like seafood too much to ever go vegan as well. Mmm, shrimp. :)

Happy Birthday Matthew! Hope you guys have fun in London.

In reference to your wasting food post, I am the same way. HATE when food spoils, and I will create a recipe just to save produce about to go bad. Then, even if it turns out not so great, I will continue to eat the leftovers until it’s gone. We only have 1 cabinet dedicated to dry goods. I used to hate not having a large pantry, but now I’m really thankful for our 1 cabinet. Keeps me from overbuying.

  37. Creativity can take a back seat to the gifts that I ACTUALLY WANT! You know? I would rather get a gift that I want or need, rather than something that someone went all out and spend money and time on. Homemade gifts are a whole other story, as those mean something very special all on their own.

I can’t believe that all Miss USA’s have the same Waist to Hip ratio, that just doesn’t seem possible. IF so, it’s pathetic. What a great message to send to young girls! ugh.

That cereal sounds great, and I LOVE the box!

  38. Bekah says:

hahahahah ohhh, you’re a clever one. And, pretty much would make Michael Scott proud with your TWHS joke.

have a fun night in London!

  39. elise says:

hahaha. big package. aim to please. whats the downside?

  40. Katharina says:

I don’t think I could be vegan either because I’d miss yogurt and cheese too much. Yes, they have alternatives but they don’t taste like the real thing and there are so many different flavors to cheese and such. There’s no recreating it lol. I’ve heard so much about those Dorset cereals and they sound really good. I’d love to find a small package of each of them so I can try them out :D

Have fun celebrating the rest of Matthew’s birth week lol!

  41. Elina says:

Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend! Happy birthday again, Matthew! :)

  42. That’s great! I love celebrating birthdays with birthweeks! Hurray!
