I actually took my juicer apart yesterday to make sure it hadn’t molded in the last three weeks that it’s sat unused. Oops. It hadn’t, but it’s just so hard for me to have a liquid breakfast when it’s so chilly out! Hope you guys have a good weekend!!!

I’m right there with you. I bring the whole jar as well :)

I haven’t tried the whole liquid breakfast thing. I’m just not sure I’d be satisfied. I like to crunch and chew!

hahahaha you are so cutee! I was always the weird girl with my food too!! people would be like um pumpkin? with tempeh? what? what is tempeh? haha I pretty much like to eat by myself so I don’t have to explain it all!

    take care and happy weekend!!

  4. I am so the girl who brings a random bag of stuff that I call lunch. Yesterday I brought a raw sweet potato and some red bell peppers! Glad to see I’m not the only one!

Sadly, liquid breakfast always leave me hungry. I wish they didn’t…but then again most things leave me hungry! I think my recent experiment making my own enormous smoothie containing 100g of hemp protein among other things proves that.

I get the ‘weird food’ stares and questions too. They’ve ranged from abhorrence at eating PB and banana together to asking whether I’m on the Gillian McKeith diet just because I’m eating quinoa. I was eating quinoa before she was even given air time! I’d just try not to feel to self-conscious and eat whatever’s good to you ~ stuff what anyone else thinks ;)

    Have a fantastic week-end

Woah, Tylenol PM has that warning?! Hm, guess I should read my drug’s labels from now on ;)

Love that your double fisting it for breakfast! I hope you double fist it with celebratory drinks tonight! Have fun!!

  7. That’s a lot of liquid for one meal! Juice, coffee AND a smoothie? Wow. I’m on the fence about liquid breakfasts. I think I would be ok with one on the weekends or a day when I don’t have to work but if I have to be on my feet without a lunch break for 7 hours I’d rather stuff myself with oats or something more substantial. But that’s just me!

Cute photo of you! Oh and don’t worry, you’re not the only one who gets the strange looks on your food. I’m known as the “office dietitian” and everyone asks my opinion about their food now just because they compare it to mine. It gets old…

haha I LOVE this post! I used to eat boiled eggs at Starbucks before school every morning.. and I would sort of hide them, while eating. So embarrassing! But, worth the embarrassment too. It’s even worse, boiled eggs are my go to snack for a plane ride! The close vicinity between people is what gets me in trouble then. :/

I love liquid meals occasionally. Sometimes I just want to say “drinking my calories never tasted so good!” But often when I make smoothies I like them thicker, so I can eat it with a spoon.

  9. I always do liquid breakfast. A huge green juice gets me going in the am. I agree, lemons in green juices are perfection. I learned that from Natalia too — she is a life-saver :)

Your so cute! I like the idea of liquid breakfasts but they don’t work for me! No matter what I put in them they don’t keep me full. And they make me too cold! I do wish I could drink them in the morning.. it’d be so easy to get in veggies!

  11. Diana says:

Liquid breakfasts are definitely not for me. I need to bite and chew something to make me feel like I’ve had a good meal. :|
    But for a snack… I wouldn’t mind having one of those :)

  12. Hahahah I can’t even imagine what your co-workers think there! I usually have a smoothie or breakfast. I really want a juicer, though!

  13. Emily says:

I’m all about the liquid breakfasts. they are great for on-the-go, which is necessary for me, and they give me some extra much-needed hydration, as I always run/work out first thing, before breakfast. very often I don’t want to eat something hugely substantial after my run, so I have a small-ish, easy to digest liquid breakfast, then another snack not too long after.

  14. I really like the idea of your juice! It sounds excellent!

I’m an oatmeal for breakfast girl, but I love smoothies as snacks :)

  15. Jessica says:

The new layout is gorgeous! The colors are so calming :)

Lara, you are adorable with your two drinks in hand! And mmm, barney butter. I’ve only had the sample packets of it, but need to change that!

  16. The new layout is beautiful!! I LOVE liquid meals, but only for breakfast. I need some protein powder in there for staying power, though!

  17. Well, someone named SmoothieGirl had better like the liquid brekkies though I’ve been trying to wean myself off them for the winter as they do make me soooooo cold. Also just like you, I was making 2 shakes every morning- one more of a juice/shake and the other a protein shake. And yes, it takes all morning and there’s dirty containers everywhere!

Did you put a whole lemon in your juice/?!??

I do eat HB eggs a lot and sadly they DO smell just like farts! Grr! So I suppose if you fart, you can just say that you finished your HB egg!

    Have fun with the friends!

  18. I find liquid breakfasts don’t fill me up enough. Although I do drink a lot of liquid (aka coffee) with the breakfast ;)

I would have eaten the entire jar of nutbutter with a spoon if it came with me! You have amazing willpower!

  19. Melissa S. says:

    have a great night!!!

and right on for being the american with a green drink!!!

  20. I never have liquid breakfasts bc I always feel like I’m missing out on a meal haha. But I think I’m going to make the GM leap soon :)

  21. sue says:

i love liquid breakfasts…i’ve been adding ginger and cilantro to my juices but i still have to try lemon. have a great weekend!!

  22. Susan says:

Bahahaha, we are the same office weirdos!!! I always get looks when I start peeling my stinky boiled egg, or haul out my giant jar of almond butter (because I don’t have any tiny tupperware either). Today, I brought a big tub of garlic hummus and can of tuna, so I’m sure that will smell pleasant as well :P And I have a bad habit of bringing crunchy apples and carrot sticks to meetings, where all I do is noisily crunch the whole the time…

I’m a no-go on the liquid breakfast though. Breakfast is typically my most caloric meal of the day, I need REAL food and I need it FAST! :P

  23. I used to love having only fruit and juice in the morning in the summer. But now, I also like having something warm. I try to juice about four days per week, and I usually have some oatmeal about an hour after the juice. (I only juice on “late” days, which means I am either off or have to be at the office by 9).

    Have a great weekend! :)

  24. I never crave liquid breakfasts like I crave oats. However, I am loving protein ice-cream in the mornings these days. Deb’s gums are to smoothies what Natalie’s lemon is to juicing. Well, not really, but you get the idea. :)

My coworkers think the same thing about me. Although we all eat healthy foods, they laugh at me reading my food blogs…until I bake something for them that I read on a blog. Then the laughter turns to gratefulness.

Hope you have a good weekend Lara!

  25. Tina says:

I miss green smoothies! They basically fueled me all summer. And I never crave liquid breakfast after summer. All I want is a hot bowl of oats :)

  26. you know, I just cannot do liquid breakfasts. I don’t feel like they’re a real meal for me. I like to chew! I AM that girl that everyone thinks is weird with her food though! lol :)
