Birthdays and Baby Yoga
It’s been a lovely day. I definitely overate, but that’s ok. It was worth it. For breakfast I had the same Greek yogurt/peach/nut thing I’ve been having this week. I love this new brand my mom got. It’s really creamy and almost sweet.
I went for a short two-mile jog at the park near my mom’s house shortly after breakfast. It’s this really lovely little park with geese, kids feeding ducks, and mom’s with strollers. One lap is a half mile, so it goes by quick. There are a few photos in this post.
All my meals ran early today, which is essentially why I ate four meals. Lunch was at 11:30. It highly unusual for me to eat lunch before 12! I have this weird neurosis about eating lunch before noon. At any rate, for lunch I stopped by Taco Tree. Taco Tree is technically a fast food joint in my hometown, BUT it is locally owned and very natural as far as fast food goes. Everything is lard-free and the beans are totally vegetarian. It has a sort of cult following in these parts and I have to have it everytime I come home to visit. Today I had a bean burrito with no cheese and an apple.
I ate this in the car on my way to visit my friend Lindsey. Then I met up with my sister and my niece. I stayed at her house for the afternoon. I knew dinner was going to be late so I grazed the whole time. I ate a Luna bar, a plum, and a small slice of cheese. That was over a period of about four hours.
Dinner was late, almost 9pm. I hate eating late. I’m an old lady on the inside. Anything past 7:30 and I start hyperventilating. I wasn’t too happy about being stuck at a Mexican restaurant for dinner, but I decided to indulge. It was a friend’s birthday and there were a bunch of people there I hadn’t seen since high school!
Those are grilled mahi mahi fish tacos and chips and salsa. Way too many chips. I ate all of the taco filling and two of the shells. At least I managed to avoid alcohol.
I should take a lesson from my niece and do a little yoga to aid digestion.
Any fun plans for the weekend? Tomorrow I am going on a run with my mom and then spending the afternoon with my grandparents. Sunday is a family party in my honor! Wheeee!

the park sounds lovely
and breakfast looks so yummy and autumn themed!
Enjoy your weekend hun!
Cute baby yoga. Emily and I do that a lot together hehe.
I have a weird thing about eating lunch before noon. In fact, I prefer to eat it around 1. I don’t know why!
Awww babies doing yoga!! Love it!
That Mexican food is making me crave pico de gallo. I’m trying to think of a healthy way to replicate the taste of fried corn chips. Any ideas? lol
I have the best green smoothie to recommend to you: rice dream vanilla, 1 frozen banana, TONS of spinach, 1/2 punnet of strawberries and 1 tbsp flaxseed. OMG. Best tasting smoothie ever and it’s super refreshing. I am obsessed and trying frozen peaches next…
The UK misses you!
You are not alone…I always feel weird eating lunch before noon, almost guilty or something.
I like to have my meals planned out ahead of time, so when I am super late of early to eat a meal it throws me off.
Sometimes my husband teases me and says I am grumpy when I don’t get my “food eating” ways
Oooh, love those fish tacos! I was thinking of making those last night!
Glad you’re enjoying your visit:)
I love fish tacos. Yours look really good!
I love the picture of your niece! My toddler goes to yoga once a week at my gym. Well, most of the time he just watches everyone or does his own thing (at almost two he is a still a bit young). But it’s cute!
I’m glad you are having such a nice time!
No plans for the weekend here.
For now at least!
I usually have lunch at 1pm and dinner at 8:30/9pm so it’s a bit weird for me when people have lunch before noon and dinner before 7:30! I think it’s a cultural thing though.
Ohh my gosh I’m the same way with meals! If its before a certain time or past a certain time I just get very impatient & frustrated and I do NOT do breakfast food after 12 because I consider it lunch time officially haha, sooo weird! Glad you’re having a good visit with your family!
Ha ha! Fellow old lady here
I do not like to eat after 7:30 or be out after 9:00. I used to be such a party animal, now look at me
I normally eat dinner at 5:30 or 6! lol. I’m an old lady too
Your niece is pretty good at her downward facing dog, hehe!
Those mahi mahi tacos look pretty good and healthy too! But I agree, 9pm is waaay too late for dinner. I’m more a 5:30 girl
Awww, she’s already into yoga! Very nice
The fish tacos look so good. I almost ordered fish tacos last night but instead I ordered shrimp ceviche, which was actually really delicious.
This weekend I have a wedding (actually in a few hours here). I have not seen the bride in YEARS, and I don’t know the groom. It should be interesting!
Those fish tacos sound and look incredible. Of course I would have paired them with a giant margarita so props to you for staying away from the alcohol! That’s always my downfall when going out for dinner…
I eat dinner early too, anything after 8 and I start to get anxious and a little stressed out…I’m not sure why.
Have a good weekend!
Mmmm, Mexican food. You must be really enjoying it esp. since we have the good stuff here in CA.
Have a great weekend – sounds like great plans in the works!
I was laughing about you saying you feel weird eating before noon…I feel the same way! It’s like the workday drags by or something if I eat before 12.
Your niece is precious! I have three nieces myself, and they melt my heart.
Those fish tacos look delish!
Those Mahi Mahi tacos look fabulous! And bean burritos have always been one of my favs.
Have a fun time with your family!
I love mahi mahi tacos! Mmmm! Have a great time with the fam!
What a wonderful day. I love fish tacos!! I don’t like eating too late either, makes me feel icky. I always need at least a couple hours to digest before bed. Hope you have a wonderful party
Taco Tree- what a cute name! Hope you have fun on your run with your madre! Today we’re having friends over for football!
Lara,
I am the exact same way. Freak out if people want to meet up for lunch before noon, and I know it’s because I’ll get super hungry before dinner and want to eat at around 3 or 4 PM. So silly, but it’s one of my quirks. Also hate eating late. If CD and I have a party to attend that doesn’t start until 7 or later, we always eat before. We’re the old couple who need to be in bed by 9.
Taco Tree – sounds like my kind of place.
You look like you are having an amazing time! So happy for you! Those mahi mahi tacos just made me crave Mexican for dinner. . . have to do something about that!
what a great weekend you’re having! i used to be like that, not eating before noon. but now i just try to listen to my body, no matter what the time! sometimes i even avoid the clock to make sure i’m listening to me!
I never eat lunch before noon! I like to eat lunch later so I’m not as hungry by dinnertime. Good thinking!
That;s my favorite brand of Greek yogurt. You should try the honey flavor – it’s seriously a gift from the gods.
Your little friend is so cute!!!
I’m hoping to catch the State fair tomorrow before they pack up and leave!
mm your yorgurt mess sounds fantastic!!
I have to eat lunch at 10 on school days..how much does that suck!? I, like you, like eating around 12!!
that apple sure does look great!
Baby yoga = so cute! I had my daughter’s 1st bday party at a yoga studio and it was so cute watching all the barely-walking 1 yr olds doing little yoga poses. Either that or trying to teethe on the yoga mats
I lurve the Greek Gods yogurt! So good! Yay for running with your mom – that is so lovely. And yay for tacos – they look good and non-greasy. Just think when you get back “home” you will have plenty of time to be sensible but this is the most exciting vacay of all time so I say embrace it with open arms!
aww your going to run with your mom!?! how cute- have fun!!! I am going to run in the am too. we are at the lake this weekend with Jeff’s nana. no surprise shrimp yet thank goodness.
those tacos look super healthy and tasty! love your neice’s downward dog, haha.
Sorry for the mass commenting, first chance Ive had to catch up all week!
Aww how cute is your niece!! I’m like you about eating dinner. Growing up we used to eat dinner at 6pm and hubby’s family would eat at 5.30 so we are both used to eating early and anything past 8pm means I need a mini dinner to keep me going! Glad to see you are having fun x
Bean burrito…how I love thee!!!!!!!!
I think that’s the ONLY Greek yogurt I haven’t tried yet. I’m glad to hear you like it – maybe I’ll have to pick up a tub!
Taco Tree sounds so much better than Taco Hell, I mean Bell!
9PM is a late dinner for this early bird as well! What a cutie pie doing yoga
I picked up that greek yogurt a while a go, it was really good but less thick than other greek yogurts!
Those fish tacos look really good – there’s nothing wrong with indulging every once in a while!
I HATE eating late anymore, it just throws me off!
I get the same meal window anxiety! Especially when it comes to a late dinner
mexican is a MUST when you’re in cali…i love your yogurt mess too- i’ve been topping mine with walnuts lately and it’so good!
